Stephen N. Spicer, 59, Neosho, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, following a long-term illness.
Steve was born on Feb. 7, 1953, in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of Lowell James (LJ) Spicer and Pauline (Polly) White. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Neosho High School in 1971. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from University of Oklahoma.
He owned and operated Steve Spicer Motors in Joplin from 1980 to 1996. He also owned Four State R.V. and Dirt & Water in Carthage, Four State Manufactured Home in Neosho, and opened Steve Spicer Realty in 2004. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Neosho. During the course of his business career, he served as an active member of the Missouri Auto Dealers Association and as director of both the National Auto Dealers Association and the Missouri R.V. Dealer's Association.
He was also an active member of the National Association of Realtors.
He married Marshele (Micki) Freund on Sept. 1, 1978, in Neosho, and she survives. Additional survivors include: two daughters, Kristina (Nina) Moser and husband Jared, Neosho, and Jillian (J.J.) Farnsworth and husband Paul, Wildwood, Mo.; son, Stephen N. Spicer II and wife Jessica, Fayetteville, Ark.; mother, Pauline White, Neosho, Mo.; two brothers, James M.
Spicer and wife Teresa, Neosho, and Gary P.
Spicer and wife Vicci, Neosho; sister, Sharon Yenzer and husband Dwight, Tulsa, Okla. father-in-law, Henry Freund, Neosho, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Molly, Sophia, Kirra, and Hailee, plus two more arriving this summer (including his first grandson).
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday at the First Christian Church in Neosho. Rev. Al Gritten will officiate. The visitation will be held 6-7 p.m.
Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
