Elbert Franklin Jones Sr., 83, of Litchfield died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at 8:45 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital, Litchfield.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. at Litchfield Assembly of God. The Rev. Ben Ellis will officiate. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield.
Born Dec. 13, 1927, at Litchfield, he was a son of the late James Franklin and Rachael M. (Forehand) Jones. He married Mary Belle Law Nov. 19, 1949, at Litchfield, and she survives.
Mr. Jones was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Litchfield Assembly of God. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He worked for C B & Q Railroad for several years, International Paper Co. and Morton Buildings, both of Litchfield, and the City of Litchfield Water Treatment Plant before retiring in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Elbert (wife Vickie) Jones Jr., and Michael Jones Sr., all of Litchfield; a daughter, Shirley Jones of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Zane Jones of Ft. Stewart, GA, Jessica (husband Ronnie) White of Litchfield, Elbert (wife Julie) Jones III of Hillsboro, Michael Jones Jr., Cody Jones, LeAnna Jones, Ethan Jones and Andrew Jones, all of Litchfield; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Jones; three sisters, Ethel Randle, Marjorie Busby and Mary Lee; and a grandson, Adam Jones.
The family suggests memorials be given to Litchfield Assembly of God.
