CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – Barbara Jean Murray, age 77, of Connersville, Indiana, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at Fayette Regional Health Systems.
Born January 29, 1939, in Estill County, Kentucky, to John Henry and Dovie Cox Ramsey, Barbara lived in this area most of her life. She was retired from Murray’s Work Clothes. Barbara was a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church and her faith was very important to her. She enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing, camping, cooking, travel, and gospel music. Barbara loved spending time with family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John Estill Murray, to whom she was married on June 12, 1954; daughters, Georgia (Dennis) Wagers, Nancy Kay Napier, and Brenda (Don) Hart, all of Richmond; son, Jeff (Melissa) Murray of Connersville, Indiana; grandchildren, Stacey (Troy) Caudill, Joshua (Angel) and Denny Wagers, Michael, Mark ‘Tony’ (Alice), and Matthew Killion, Miranda Isaac, Robyn (Brad) Wildman, Rachel (Nathaniel) Walters, Cole, Kaitlyn, Joey, Tristan, and Hannah Murray; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters; Ruby Jira of Cleveland, Ohio, Karen Smith of Estill County, Kentucky, and Janet Cox of Irvine, Kentucky; brothers, Vernon Ramsey and Ernie Ramsey, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and James Ramsey of Lexington, Kentucky; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Derik Hart; great-granddaughter, Haile Jordan Schuck; and brother, Cecil Ramsey.
Visitation for Barbara Jean Murray will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 794 South Round Barn Road, Richmond with Rev. H. Lynn Seagraves and Pastor Dennis Wagers officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
