p.825, Household 313: W. E. Hoy, age 31, planter. No real estate listed. Personal property $10,900. [probably is farming his mother's place as she is the next household and had real estate values at $23,000]

William E. Hoy age 41, Farmer, Personal property $1000, born KY
Amelia, age 18, Keeping house, b. MS [Her age matches that of "S. E." of 1860. Eglatine and the rest of the children not found.]
Aurora, age 24, no occupation, b. MS [Apparently Aurora, the mother, is deceased]
Philip, age 36, no occupation, b. Mississippi [Philip's wife & children also missing]
Eliza Simmons, age 41, mulatto, Domestic Servant, b. MS, can't read or write
Fanny Hoy, age 17, black, Domestic Servant, b. MS, can't read or write
It would appear that perhaps during the Civil War, there was some sort of epidemic. Information is that Eglatine died 1 Jun 1864. There are 4 children that were listed in 1860 that do not appear again. Phillip's wife and two children are not there in 1870. The mother, Aurora Proctor Hoy also died in the intervening years. There is no indication what happened to her considerable property and the slaves have been freed greatly reducing the families personal property value. I would think the two females working in the household were likely former slaves of the family.
