Clara I. Avery, 72, of 2401 N. Gale died Sunday, Nov. 13, 1994, at Methodist Medical Center.
Born Jan. 21, 1922, in Peoria to Earl and Marie Fritz Ferguson, she married Vernon S. Avery on Dec. 6, 1942, in Missouri. He died Oct. 1, 1974. One infant daughter, Barbara, and one sister, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are five sons, Robert E. of Milwaukee, Gary L. of Bloomington, Vernon S. Jr. of Groveland, and Michael S. and Roger E., both of Peoria; three daughters, Mary E. Davis and Mrs. John (Brenda K.) Moore, both of Peoria, and Mrs. Ronald (Marcia L.) Weber of Tremont; one brother, James Ferguson of Marquette Heights; four sisters, Dorothy Joyce of Sarasota, Fla., Maggie Worrick and Josephine Saylor, both of Peoria, and Edna Savage of Bloomington; and one half brother, Jerry Knickerbacher of Germantown Hills.
She worked in the housekeeping department at Proctor Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1984.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
