Ancestry family trees suggest that George was born 30 Jun 1801, a son of Thomas Hoy and Susanna Bush. Thomas and Susannah raised a large family - their eldest son appears to have been John B. Hoy who was the father of Capt. George Washington Hoy who served in the Civil War. Thomas Hoy had settled in Simpson Co, 1809 and died there 15 Sep 1846. He is said to have been born 13 Jun 1763, Buckingham Co and to have fought in the Revolution [given his age - it would have been later in that War].
