Mary Kathryn Phillips
(9 Aug 1930 - 28 Sep 2011)
Tri-City Herald (Kennewick, WA) - Friday, September 30, 2011
Kathy McKay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, was called home by her Lord to her eternal reward on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011, at her home in Kennewick. She will be remembered and missed for her spirit, her laughter and her love of life, family and friends. She loved to cook, to travel and to tend to her flowers at her rural home.
She was born Mary Kathryn Phillips on August 9, 1930, in Barry County, MO. She found her one true love later in life, marrying Ken McKay in Hawaii in 1976. They moved to their rural Kennewick home in 1981, living happily ever after raising flowers, fruits and vegetables on their two acres. She held many jobs in her life, but her real vocation was making her husband, family and friends happy by sharing her love of life. She will be sorely missed by those she leaves behind, but every life she touched was made a little brighter by her presence.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Ken McKay; son Mike Tackach and wife, Linda, of Carthage, Missouri; daughter Janie Faulkner and husband, Tom, of Vancouver, WA; one brother, Eston Phillips of Nampa, ID; sisters Thelma Lee and Wilma Herrell of Shelton, WA, and Geneva Sjurson of Boise, ID; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and friends and family around the country who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Tessie Searle Phillips; and three brothers, James Phillips, Donald Phillips and Curtis Phillips.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 1st, 2011, 2:00 p.m., Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th and Union Street, Kennewick.
