Johnny J. Hopkins, 70, 136 E. Adams St., Portland, died this morning at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Highland County, Ohio, to John G. and Emma S. (Chaney) Hopkins. He married Patricia K. Adams on April 14, 1957. She died Oct. 2, 2008.
He was an operating engineer and heavy equipment operator for Local 103, having worked since 1959. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Retirees Club.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Hopkins, Portland, and Ron Hopkins, Bryant; two daughters, Dianne McLaughlin, Lebanon, Ohio, and Becky Coleman, Portland; five brothers, Ralph Hopkins, Loveland, Ohio, Joe Hopkins, Centerville, Ohio, Bob Hopkins, Sardinia, Ohio, Jerry Hopkins, Ridgeville, and Tom Hopkins, Ridgeville; three sisters, Doris J. Wallingford, Centerville, Ohio, Lucille Holloway, Kettering, Ohio, and Shirley Fauber, Millford, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with the Rev. Steve Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Green Park Cemetery, Portland.
