Thomas was raised by his step mother Susannah Thomas -Curtis Ratcliff on "Sarah's Fancy " with his Step Brothers ( Susannah's Children by Nathaniel Curtis ) and his Half Brothers John, James ,William and Zacariah Ratliff until the move to Anson Co NC where he married 6 MAR 1779 Sarah Diggs daughter of William Degge and Judith HALEY Hailey
all who had moved to Anson From Colonial Louisa Va
Thomas was a Revolution Militia member in Anson Co
Per Howard Hazelwood on 15 Oct 1783 Thomas Ratliff recieved 22 pounds at the Salisbury District Office for Revolutionary War Claims thus letting us know Thomas was in Service during the Revolutionary War as A Patriot

Thomas owned his own Plantation along the West side of Anson Co East of Highway NC 145 near Cairo where he and Sarah are beieved Buried in unmarked graves.
