Mary Lou Boggs Cook, 48, resident of rural New Castle, went home to be with the Lord Dec. 8, 2011. She was a patient at Ball Hospital and her passing followed an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1963, in New Castle, a daughter of Jesse and Bessie Banks Boggs. Mary was a graduate of Blue River Valley High School, and received a Dietary Management Degree from Ivy Tech College. Mary was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister, and loved family activities and sharing time with her family and friends. She dearly loved New Castle and was always looking to improve her community. Her heart and home were always open to anyone in need. She had a deep passion to love people, and animals unconditionally.
Mary was a faithful friend who cared for and defended the "underdog" and anyone less fortunate, man or animal. She was an active member of the Word of God Ministries and had supported Young Life in Henry County, including donating the use of her buildings. She sponsored a Halloween Party for the "Say No To Drugs" program every year and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was a co-owner in several business ventures over the years, including Roto Rooter and The Raintree Inn Motel.
Mary will be remembered for her warm hugs and smiles that brightened the lives of so many. She truly loved unconditionally.
Left to cherish her loving memory include: her husband of 24 years Maurice "Maury" Cook; a daughter, Misty Dawn Schlie (husband: Joel) of Greenfield; two grandchildren; Michael Schlie of Greenfield, Madison Schlie of Greenfield; father, Jesse Boggs of New Castle; one brother, Don Boggs of New Castle; three sisters, Cheryl Stamper of New Castle, Doris Thompson (husband: Tom) of Cedar Springs, Mich., Connie Burgess (husband: Rick) of Lewisville; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her mother Bessie Boggs in 2003 and one brother Michael Boggs in 2011
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle with Rev. Bill Palmer officiating.
Mary will be laid to rest in her words at "The Beautiful and Peaceful" Green Hills Memory Garden, West of New Castle.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, and one hour before the funeral at Macer-Hall Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Cancer Society, or The Word of God Ministries with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Macer-Hall Funeral Home is honored to conduct Mary's services.
