First. Executor to pay all funeral expenses and just debts out of the first money to come into his hands.
Second. Real estate to be divided equally among children: sons - Thomas Francis, Romulus Randall, James Sutherland, and William Richard, Junior; daughter - Josephine Alice.
Third. Youngest son, William Richard, Jr. to be alloted his part to include the dwelling house and outhouses belonging thereto, such as the barn, smoke house, etc.
Fourth. Also in the division it is to be taken into consideration that I have aided my oldest son Thomas Francis to the amount of $250 by advancements, so he has already had $250 in value of his part.
Fifth. My youngest son is very young and the other children are to pay to the guardian to be appointed by the clerk of the court, $500 for the purpose of educating him. Each of the four to pay $125. If they do not, the amount is to be a charge against the part of the land, or so much as their part to be sold to satisfy this amount.
Sixth. All personal property to be divided equally among all my children
Seventh. Any other real estate, hired or acquired by my estate to be divided equally in value among all my five children
Eighth. Executor to collect all debts due me and pay all debts due by me and after all expenses paid, the moneys to be divided equally among all my children
Ninth. Trusty friend, Frank A. Linney, my lawful executor.

2 Mar 1917. F. A. Linney, presented the Will to the clerk of the Superior court of Watauga Co, both witnesses swore to the accuracy and signing of the will in their presence. Will ordered recorded.
