Mrs. Dorothy Ellen Critcher, age 85, of Lamar, formerly of Grubbs, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Lamar. She was born March 5, 1922 in Rokoshe, Okla., the daughter of Frank and Melinda Maude (Sims) Ragains.
Mrs. Critcher retired from the Grubbs School District after 20 years of service, and was of the Church of God faith. She enjoyed bird watching, working in her yard, and especially reading her Bible.
Mrs. Critcher was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daniel Critcher; one daughter, Betty Anschultz; one grandchild, Carey Daniel Fuel; one brother, Frank Edward Ragains; and four sisters, Elizabeth Ward, Katherine Demmitt, Emma Lou Sterling, and Margaret Hines.
She is survived by four sons, Tommy Critcher and wife, Shirley, of Gold Hill, Ore., Jerry Critcher and wife, Debbie, of Newark, Jack Critcher and wife, Vickie, of Batesville, and Mike Critcher and wife, Terri, of Grubbs; five daughters, Linda Fuel of Texas City, Texas, Jo Ellen Wilkins of Clarksville, Donna Gann and husband, Doug, of Morganza, La., Kathy Johnson of Newport, and Martha Pelley of Newark; a very close friend, Bill Fletcher; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Hoover Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Ballew's Chapel Cemetery at Grubbs.
Pallbearers will be Brian Anschultz, Brad Johnson, Jacob Critcher, Denzil Griffin, Dean Vosburg, and Herschel Kagen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Critcher, Kenny Anschultz, Doug Gann, Tanner Spradling, Jordan Pelley, Zachary Anschultz, Bill Fletcher, Luke Sterling, Charles Sterling, Ervin Sterling, John Ragains, Jack Ragains, and R.K. Anschultz.
