Robert John Daniel, 75, died May 22, 2003 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo. He had suffered a stroke on October 11, 1996; and was diagnosed with cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) on June 24, 2002, which caused his health to deteriorate in the last six months.
Born July 22, 1927 in Bismarck, ND, he was the only son of John Zachariah Daniel and Grace Elizabeth (Gates) Daniel. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1946. Robert served in the US Army during World War II from September 24, 1946 to March 18, 1948. He received an honorable discharge, the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation of Japan Medal.
Robert received a diploma in Business Administration and Accounting from Capital Commercial College in 1949. He started his own business, Daniel Auto Express and Daniel Landscaping; and was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and VFW Clubs. One July 16, 1960, he married LaVonne Coyle; they had three children, Jacqueline Marie, Robert Jo, and Robert John.
