Lawrence E. Comstock Sr., 81 of 202 Nelson Road died Monday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born July 22, 1910 in Fountain. He grew up and attended school in Ludington and in Boyne City.
He was married in November 1965 in Ludington to Viola French and she preceded him in death in February 1991.
He worked as a cook on the C & O Trainferries for 22 years, retiring in 1975.
He is a member of Moose Lodge 1126 of DeLand, Fla.
Surviving are seven daughterters Mrs. Henry (Shirley) Cunningham, Holton; Mrs. Elwood (Ruth) Skuse, Whitehall; Mrs. John (Phyllis) Lauferski, Grand Haven; Mrs. Eryne (Eleanor) Clark, New Era; Marjorie Vodvarka, Ludington; Mrs. Victor (Leota) Skuse, Whitehall, and Mrs. Steven (Marilyn) Sarachman, Fruitport; five sons, Lawrence (and Sybil) Comstock Jr., Ludington; Thomas (and Janet), montague; Mervin (and Nikki), Florida; Lester (and Linda), North Muskegon, and Gerald (and Kathy), Grand Gave; one brother, Richard, North Muskegon; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Mae) Obzut, Muskegon and Clara Woodring, Rothbury; one aunt, Mrs. Eva McCumber, Ludington; five stepsons, numberous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mr. Comstock are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 4, with complete arrangements announced later by the Dorrell Funeral Home.
