Pension Application of son-in-law and his widow, W-22414, states that Robert Dowdle Sr was living in York Districk SC during the Revolution. John Warnock's wife was Eleanor Dowdle Warnock.

His will, filed Anderson Co, SC was dated 7 Sep 1819, proved 7 Aug 1820. The will and subsequent settlement lists the following children:
