Mabel apparently had an earlier marriage to Craig A. McFarland. They are buried together, Dale Cemetery, Connersville, IN - his dates are 1908-1988 - so it would seem there was a divorce. There was a son Earl McFarland (1935-2010)

Earl McFarland, 75, died at his home with his family Friday afternoon, July 23, 2010, after a long illness.
He was born on February 6, 1935 in Foxtown, Jackson County, Kentucky to Craig and Mable Gabbard McFarland. He came to Connersville with his family and resided here for 66 years.
Earl's family was most important to him. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Betty Jean Henson, whom he married April 18, 1949 in Connersville; their daughter: Lisa Medley and son-in-law, Robert Medley, granddaughters: Megan and Brittany Medley, all of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter: Lori McFarland and son-in-law, Timothy Macy of New York City; brothers: Luther and Don McFarland of Connersville and Andy McFarland of Orlando, Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law: Opal Klopp and Bill, Ruth Clark and Stanley, of Connersville, and Ms. Kelly Stipp of Winchester; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved sister, Eva Chapman of Anaheim, California.
Earl was retired from a career as a self-employed building contractor. He built, remodeled, and repaired numerous homes, offices, and farm buildings throughout East Central Indiana that stand as a testament to his skill and craftsmanship as a builder. In the late 1980s, he served as Vice President of the Fayette County Home Builders Association. From 1955 to 1958, Earl served in the U.S. Army's 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment, completing his basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was stationed in Europe and was a qualified parachutist, although he was most proud of his service as an Army mechanic in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion. Earl maintained an interest in automobile mechanics and racing throughout his life. He was an avid NASCAR fan, following driver, Bill Elliot, enjoyed reading and John Wayne movies.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions will be accepted to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
