Mr. James Harlin Hester, of 104 Stafford St., Apt. F-5, Bristol, Tenn., died July 8, 2002, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Jim was a native of Randolph County, Ala., and had lived in the Bristol area the last 27 years. He had appeared in various local performing arts groups including the Barter Theater, Theater of Bristol, Show Boat Dinner Theater and the Old West Dinner Theater. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He was a former administrative director of radiology at Bristol Memorial Hospital and a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl Hester; one daughter, Beth Morris, currently stationed in Texas; two sons, Gordon Hester of Hendersonville, N.C., David Hester of Suwanee, Ga.; one stepson, Charles Haynes of Bristol Tennessee; and one sister, Barbara Terrell of Sylacauga, Ala. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Chris Hester, Phillip Hester, Kevin Morris and Ashley Morris; and two step-grandchildren, Laken Haynes and Megan Haynes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Hamilton Fuller officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at the National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., with military funeral rites being conducted by the Patton-Crosswhite VFW 6975 Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends and family. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the Akard Funeral Home.
