A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 417 Green St. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Darrell R. Beckey, 78, formerly of 321 Roscoe St., died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at the Muscatine Care Center.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 417 Green St. The Rev. Rob Lathrop will officiate. Pallbearers are Jimmy Butterworth, Andy Trosen, John Beckey, Butch Kelly, Bill Wilson, and Dick Boldt. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish or the Muscatine Care Center.
Mr. Beckey was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Joseph and Mattye Peters Beckey. He married Therese Barraud Oct. 26, 1946, in Congers, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the St. Mathias Catholic Church.
He was the manager of the Iowa State Liquor Store until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Therese of Muscatine; a son, Tom Beckey of Davenport; a daughter, Sharon Butterworth and her husband, Mark, of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Lyne Butterworth; a brother, Marlin Beckey and his wife, Florence, of Lady Lake, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry; a daughter, Travaughn in infancy; and two brothers, Norbert and Vincent.
