Cane Creek Friends Meeting, founded in 1751, is considered the first established Quaker community in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. The site was occupied by British troops during the American Revolutionary War.
Thomas was first married to Elizabeth Stout, about 1825. She died in 1848.
