Dr. John Been Stewart was born April 21, 1916 in Greenwood, AR and died March 16, 2007 at the age of 90 from cancer in his home surrounded by a team of caregivers that God hand picked. ...he attended College and Medical School ...residence was served at Park Lane Hospital in Dallas, TX, and six months before completion of that residency he was drafted into the U.S. Army Corp where he was a flight surgeon in the 73rd Fighter Group, 318th Squadron. While serving in the Army he was on five different islands in the Pacific. He returned home with the rank of Major and a Bronze Star. He returned to Fort smith to begin his medical practice with Dr. Jones where he met Sue Jean Webster and made her his wife.
....survived by two daughters, Stacie Ascroft and husband Norm of Kansas City, MO and Ann Penn and husband David of Austin, Tex., one son, Jeb Stewart of Van Buren, AR; three grandchildren ...and three great grandchildren. ... He was preceded in death by his wife.
