Death of John H. Mixon
The Last of Col. F. M. Mixon's Brothers Passes Away.
Last night Col. F. M. Mixon received a telegram announcing the death of his brother, Mr. Jno. H. Mixson of Williston, Barnwell County. The deceased was long known as the South Carolina "watermelon king" having been the first man in this State to ship a carload of melons to the north. He had reached the age of 72 years, and was the last of Col. Mixson's ten brothers. He was the father of Mr. R. M. Mixson of Augusta, who with one other brother in this State, one in Texas, a sister, and the widow of the deceased survive.
Col. Mixon leaves this morning for Williston to attend the funeral.
