James Smith was born in England in 1610. He settled in the New World in Weymouth, Massachusetts about 1639. Land was granted to him on the "easterneck" (Weymouth Land grand 262). His will was written on June 19, 1673 and executed June 22, 1676.
The will names his wife Joane, James, Nathaniel, Hannah and grandson James of his deceased son Joshua. [History of Weymouth, Massachusettes, in Four Volumes, Weymouth Historical Society, 1923]

Nathaniel Smith, Sr. was born on June 8, 1639 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He was married to Experience, born about 1643,(last name unknown) about 1670. Nathaniel must have been endentured, because he was made a Freeman of the Massachusetts Bay
Colony on 12, October 1681. He moved to Taunton, MA about 1695. From this marriage was born Nathaniel, John, Hannah, wife of William Presbrey.

a. She is listed as the wife of William (Gen 1) and mother of his three children by Seth Presbrey in 1845.
b. Hannah appears in the two biographies with parents listed there. Both biographies acknowledge information from J. E. Seaver, Esq., secretary of the Old Colony Historical Society who for the White biography “furnished the extensive record of the descendants of Mary 4 White who married William Presbrey …” and for whom the Presbrey work acknowledged as “the late J. E. Seaver of Taunton, Secretary of the Old Colony Historical Society” also citing “The Nicholas White Genealogy by T. J. Lothrop of Taunton.” Given the information from J. E. Seaver was likely from the Seth Presbrey papers, these all appear to be from a single source: Seth Presbrey, who was born 9 years after William purportedly died.
c. Taunton vital records list a Hannah Presbrey who died 20 September 1763 with no familial information, and the record does not indicate where the information came from as it predates the 1838 burning of the records.
d. No other record of her was located.
