John Quincy Adamson died at the St. Vincent Sanitarium in Sherman, Grayson Co, TX on 20 Sep 1931 of a gun shot wound to the abdomen which occurred on September 19th in the public square. Had lived at his currect residence, 706 S. Crockett in Sherman, for 43 years. He was married - his wife was Mrs. Cora Adamson. Born 1 Sep 1862 at Collinsville, Grayson Co, he was an attorney at law and had practiced law for 45 years. His father was Jonathan Adamson, b. Arkansas; his mother Margaret Huffaker, b. IL. The informant was J. Q. Adamson Jr. of Freeport, TX. He was buried in Sherman on Sep 21st.

J. Q. Adamson, former Grayson county judge and assisstant criminal district attorney, was seriouly wounded here late this afternoon by a stray bullet fired from an automobile in the business part of the city. Attending physicians at the hospital said his condition was critical.
Adamson was sitting on a bench in the city square when injured.

Murder Charges File in Stray Bullet Death

Two charges, in connection with the accidental shooting of J. Q. Adamson, former Grayson County judge and assistant district attorney were filed against E. W. Wiley Green of Dorchester in justice of peace court here this afternoon.
Adamson died early this morning from a bullet wound he received late yesterday afternoon while sitting on a park bench in the business section here. Green surrendered after the shooting, saying he had shot three times in an effort to hit Lorin Gooding of the Day community. He collapsed when told one of the bullets had struck Adamson, saying the judge was one of his best friends.
The charges placed against Green were murder in connection with Adamson's death and assault to murder Gooding.
Adamson never recovered consciousness. He died at 1 o'clock this morning. Funeral services will be held from Travis Stree Methodist Church at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with Rev. O. T. Cooper, pastor, officiating.

Bond is Refused. Sherman Man on Murder Charge
Sherman, Sept 23. Wiley Green, farmer of near Dorchester, held in the county jail on charges of murder and assault to murder growing out of the fatal shooting of Assistant County Attorney J. A. Adamson on a crowded street here last Saturday, was denied bail on the murder charge at a preliminary hearing this afternoon.
Bond of $1,500 was set in the assault charge. In firing at Loring Gooding, a neighbor, it is alleged Green shot Adamson, who was sitting on a courthouse bench conversing with friend.
