Ruby Wendeborn Carpenter, a native of Stamford, TX, passed away on September 8, 2014 in Johnson City, TN. At the age of 97 years.
Ruby Wendeborn was born March 15, 1917 in Sagerton, TX to John and Tillie Wendeborn. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1935. Ruby worked on her parents' farm for several years before moving to Stamford where she was employed by J. C. Penney Co. She married Clayton Carpenter in 1950 and assisted him with managing the Carpenter Tire Co. for more than 20 years. She was a faithful wife, dedicated mother, and loving grandmother, enjoying homemaking, sewing, attending church with friends and listening to country music.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her son and daughter in law, Bob and Cora Carpenter of Gray, TN a step-son, Kelly Carpenter of Naples, FL, a brother and sister in law. J. C. and Margaret Wendeborn of Sagerton, TX, a brother and sister in law, J. D. and Marie Wendeborn of Laredo, TX, and four grandchildren, Rex, Keith, Brian, and Steven Carpenter of Gray, TN as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, her parents, a brother, L. A. Wendeborn and a sister, Geneva Carlton.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Carpenter at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford, Texas on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10 a.m.
