William Browne Jr.

According to his deposition in Surry County records, William Browne was 24 years old in 1695. He married Jane Meriwether, daughter of Nicholas Meriwether and Elizabeth, his wife. Elizabeth Meriwether was the second wife of Lt. Col William Browne making Jane, his wife, also his stepsister. He was justice of Surry County Court, September 15, 1693, and was named first on the commission of the Governor, December 20, 1710. He was vestryman of southwark Parish in 1719.
His will is dated July 3, 1746 and was presented in court by Henry Browne and proved by the witnesses: Patrick Adams, Richard Cocke, and Petter Warren, January 19, 1747. He appointed his guardian, Henry Browne, his executor.(William and Mary Quarterly)
