JOHN WILLIAMS, b. Abt. 1685; m. CATHERINE MORGAN, January 13, 1706/07, Radnor MM, Chester Co., PA; b. Abt. 1690.
Notes for JOHN WILLIAMS:
Probably born in Wales or perhaps in Merion twp., Philadelphia (now Montgomery) Co., PA
11 Mo. 13, 1707. John William, of Blockley, and Catharine Morgan of the same twp., daughter of Owen, dec'd, at Merion Meeting Place. Witnesses: Richard, Ellin and Sarah William; Hunphrey and Cadwallader Morgan etc. (Margaret Harvey thought the witnesses showed some relationship between Catherine Morgan and Cadwalader Morgan the Quaker minister)
The parents of Catherine Morgan were Owen Morgan and his first wife "Jannie." Some information on this line was found in The Incompleted Burial Records of Merion (PA) Meeting Grave-yard by Margaret B. Harvey, A.M.(Elizabeth Hanebury transcriber). Owen Morgan left a will in Newtown twp., Chester Co., PA proved Feb. 26, 1703-4. Owen Morgan and wife Jannie, from the parish of Machalleth in Montgomeryshire, came to Haverford, 1684. Owen married (2nd) Blanche, the widow of William Sharpus
He died on 9 Jul 1726 in Gwynedd twp. and left a will dated 7 Nov 1726 (I know, the will is after he died, I am following (http://www.charleston.quik.com/jeffkat/d23.htm#P23) Note: This website is no longer available - I found it on the Wayback Machine. I suspect the "will" date might be the date of probate.
John WILLIAMS was born in 1685 in Gwynedd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He died on 9 Jul 1726 in Gwynedd MM, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He signed a will on 7 Nov 1726 in Gwynedd MM, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. WILLIAMS, JOHN. Gwynedd, Co. of Philadelphia. Yeoman.
7 mo. 9, 1726/7. November 7, 1726. E.7.
Wife: Catherine. Children: Owen, Ibill, Elizabeth, Jane. Brother: Richard.
Exec: Catherine Williams.
Overseers: Richard William, Evan Evans, Evan Owen, Jno. Evans.
Wit: Hugh Jones, John Jones.
The above John is NOT believed to be a son of Robert Williams and Gwen Cadwallader of Uwchlan. There is another John (m. Jane Jones) and this marriage to Catherine occurs too early to be Robert and Gwen's son.
The John Williams who married Catherine Edwards, widow, at Gwynedd in 1714 is of Montgomery, is also a different man than this John.
