He remained at home until he was 21. He became a skilled mechanic. In 1853 he came to Daviess Co. In 1859 he returned to Hardin Co. where he lived until 1872. In 1873 he returned to Daviess Co. and purchased land four and a half miles east of Owensboro. Had eleven children.
