John Arbuth Nott was a minister of the gospel.

He was the son of Samuel Putnam Nott and Mary Remy. He was born in White River Township, Washington County, Arkansas, as his family was enumerated on August,29 1860, however he is not listed on the census.

John grew up in Maxey, Crawford Co., and married Mahala Catherine Gabbard, 22 Apr 1880 Crawford Co., Arkansas. She was the daughter of Jacob B Gabbard and Mahala Marcum of KY.

John and Mahala had two known children:
1) Cynthia Virginia "Jennie"(Nott) Isaacs:
1883 – 1930
2) Sarah Talitha "Lida" Josephine (Nott) Rucks:
1885 – 1923

His wife Mahala died abt 1887 and John married 2nd: Nancy Jane Duvall, 10 Jan 1891, Crawford Co., Arkansas.

In 1930 he resided in Webb City, Oklahoma and occupation is listed as: Minister. His widow Nancy remarried George W Atchley and he is buried in this cemetery, 1954. (Grandview Cemetery, Kaw City, Kay Co, OK) Where Nancy Duvall Nott Atchley is buried is unknown at this time of research. She died in Los Angeles, CA., 1956.
