Armistead S. Morehead

Apparently Armistead had an earlier marriage. He was 10 years older than Adeline. At least 3 of the children in the 1850 Census born before he married Adeline. Samuel is perhaps the only child of this marriage.

Armistead is also said to have had a son by his black slave, Dinah - Thomas, b. about 1837,
Thomas Morehead, son of Armistead and Dinah, married Lizzie Bibb in the year 1891. Lizzie was born in October 1869 in Kentucky. Armistead granted Thomas his freedom, and when the American Civil War broke out, Thomas joined the Union forces. He served in Company E of the 129th US Colored Infantry. Thomas and Lizzie gave birth to: John G., born September 1891; Birdie, born June 1893; Carrie L., born March 1894; and David, born July 1895. Thomas died in the year 1913.
