Lewis W. Greenough

(1837 - Abt 1885)

Lewis W. Greeno is believed to be the son of Amos Himes Greeno & Sophia Orcutt Green of Malone, Franklin County, NY. (Amos H. Greeno, b. 1807, d. 1878 in Malone, Franklin Co, NY, and Sophia Circutt, born 1809 in Vermont) Lewis married Sarah Avery on Nov 20, 1860 in Knox County, Illinois. Sarah died in 1877. By 1880, their children were disbursed, and Lewis W. Greeno was found living in Ruby City & Leadville Colorado, apparently a part of the Colorado Gold Rush. Ruby City was a silver mining camp in Gunnison County, CO. It was absorbed into the larger Irwin silver mining camp. Both died out by 1895 and are "ghost towns", remnants of the boom-or-bust mining days of Colorado. Leadville was another mining town in the same area. It remains as a town today. After 1880, no further record of Lewis W. Greeno is found.
