Mrs. Susan Merrell, wife of W.H. Merrell, died in east Doniphan 6:45 a.m. Saturday morning of dropsy. Services from home Sunday 11:30 a.m. by Rev. E. Rogers, Baptist Church. Buried at Oak Ridge where Rev. W. J. Hays officiated. Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Kelley, pioneer settlers. Born near Ripley/Carter county line April 23, 1851. Married 41 years ago. Leaves husband, 3 sons: Jim, John & Columbus. Member C P Church 25 years. Alph Rhodes, now of Poplar Bluff, and for many years only colored citizen of Ripley County, came over for her funeral.
