Hershel Q. Mims, 86, of Edinburgh died at 6 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
The funeral will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle.
Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
Survivors include sons, Quenton Mims of Seattle, Wash., Bobby C. (Donna) Mims of Scottsdale, Ariz., Maurice Daniel (Shirley) Mims of Indianapolis, Phillip Paul (Lucy) Mims of Ouray, Colo. and Hershel Steve (Janie) Mims of Arlington, Texas; daughters, Sharon Elizabeth Dart and Heidi Duncan, both of Las Vegas, and Mary Jo (Danny) Stuckey of Indianapolis; a stepson, Dennis Baker of Columbus; stepdaughters, Sylvia Oathout of Edinburgh, Mary Kathryn (Michael) Ely of Pensacola, Fla. and Diana Jean (Isaac) Byrd of Taylorsville; brothers, Earl Mims of Verbena, Ala. and Clyde (Carolyn) Mims of Louisville; 20 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessye Alberta Fischer Mims, and his second wife, Dorla D. Lister Baker Mims.

Hershel Q. Mims, 86, died Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
Survivors include five sons, Quenton Mims of Seattle, Bobby C. (Donna) Mims of Scottsdale, Ariz., Maurice Daniel (Shirley) Mims of Indianapolis, Phillip Paul (Lucy) Mims of Ouray, Colo., and Hershel Steve (Janie) Mims of Arlington, Texas; three daughters, Sharon Elizabeth Dart and Heidi Duncan, both of Las Vegas and Mary Jo (Danny) Stuckey of Indianapolis; a stepson, Dennis Baker of Columbus; three stepdaughters, Sylvia Oathout of Edinburgh, Mary Katheryn (Michael) Ely of Pensacola, Fla., and Diana Jean (Issac) Byrd of Taylorsville; two brothers, Earl Mims of Verbena, Ala., and Clyde (Carolyn) Mims of Louisville, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessye Alberta (Fischer) Mims; his second wife, Dorla D. (Lister) Baker Mims; his parents, Alfred Ervin and Mary Mae (Sanders) Mims; six brothers, Howard, James, Alfred, Earl, Maurice and Preston Mims; and three sisters, Era Bullard, Willadean Brand and Mary Nell Murphy.
The Rev. Mark Meyers will conduct a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. today at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle, 701 S. Main St, Edinburgh. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time today at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, with a graveside service at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Eskew-Eaton Funeral home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
