A Civil War Story
Submitted by Lottie A. Guy
The "Battle of Wildcat" in the Civil War was in Rockcastle County, KY. During the battle Jane (Virginia Allen) Anglin sat on her door step until the battle was over. Then she walked through the field and turned over the dead to see if one was her husband or her son. Both had been in the battle. Her husband carried the flag which was shot off twice. She was a daughter of John Allen and Easter Baker Allen, married 6 Jan 1834 to Stephen Anglin. John Allen was a son of Adoniram Allen, born 1790 in George.
The story was told to Lottie A. Guy by a descendant of John Allen and Easter Baker Allen.
