Individual Details

There is a problem with Asa Hockett as related in the Family Tree of the person who has the autosomal match to me. It's just wrong - that person has assumed a very wrong Asa Hockett as the son of Sina Smith & William Hockett. I have disconnected him and created a proper Asa for Sina and Wiliams.

It's interesting that there were two Asa Hocketts living in Ohio in 1870, of nearly the same age.

One was in Pike Twp, Clark Co - apparently married to a Margaret and with no children. He's just not the right Asa.

The other was in Fairfield Twp, Highland Co Ohio, Hh 459
Asa Hocket, age 30, in the Lumber Business, b. Ohio as was his whole family
Anna, 33
Emma 8. Alvin 6. Levina A. 4 and Alma age 2
These children match those related by Sina. Next door is the family of Ellis Barrett - not old enough to be Anna's father, but Asa's wife is said to have been Anna Barrett.


Then I found two Asa Hocketts in 1880
This one is obviously Sina's son - since she is living with him.

Meanwhile - the Asa Hockett of the Family Tree - married to a Ruth - lived in Rutland, Montgomery, Co, Kansas, Hh 139, b. Ohio - and none of their story matches the letter written by Sina Smith Hockett describing their lives, where they had lived, and the names of Asa's children.
