Ralph Blankenship

(Abt 1662 - Bef Apr 1714)

Hernrico Co., Virginia court records (Book 2, page 326) shows that Ralph arrived in the year 1686. The actual historical document from the 1690 Henrico County Court records says that Ralph Blankinship and 89 other men (all presumably indentured servants) and 70 African slaves were imported or their passages paid for by Richard Kennon in the year 1686.

Cavaliers & Pioneers, Vol III, p.150. Ralph Blankship was one of 120 persons for whom Capt Henry Harrison & Philip Ludwell, both of Surry, received 6365 acres of land in Surry & Isle of Wight, South side of the Nottaway; dividing land of Mr. Benja. Harrison by the Raccoon Swampl corner of Hinshea Guillam, 16 Jun 1714. Patent Book 10, p.165

Estate of Ralph Blankinship:
Inventory On the said deceased estate in due form to be administered by Martha Blankinship, Charles Clay, and Richard Blankenship. Henrico Co Order Bood, april 5, 1714, page 277

Likely there was a son also named Ralph - in fact records suggest three sons - Ralph, John and James. There may have been a William and a Richard. There is a Virginia land grant to Ralph Blankenship, 22 Sep 1739, Amelia Co. It was for 318 acres and was between the branches of Knibs Creek and branches of Smacks Creek, adjacent lines of Bradby and others. PB 18, p.463
