Henry H. Mims

(30 Nov 1864 - 3 May 1951)

Alabama Deaths Index show his name as Henry Harrison Mims. A person has posted a page from a book, "Brief History of the Henry Howard Mims Family" written by the Rev. M. Lockhart of Clanton, AL on 30 Jul 1977. His memorial page on FindAGrave has Henry Harrison Mims.

The history article states that he married Rebecca Ann Minor, daughter of Nathan & Marandy Easterling Minor, on 7 Jun 1883 at the bride's home. He was 19; she was 17. They had their 50th Wedding Anniversay, in 1933.

There were 16 children, nine girls, seven boys. In order of their births: Emily, Lila, Nathan, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Joseph, Dicy, Robert, Berline, Vincent, Rosa, George, Ruth, Lille, and Bruce. One child was stillborn.

The article notes he was the half brother of Dr. V. J. Gragg, who was responsible for getting an airport in the Clanton area.

Henry had died 26 years prior to the writing of the article which isn't complete.

In 1900, Nathan Mims, age 13, was living with Vinson J. Gragg and his family in Clanton. I haven't found the rest of the family. Ancestry "shaking leaves" have identified a different Henry Mims with the wrong age, wrong wife, wrong children.
