Her name is Betsy Lucas on her marriage to Michael Winkler found in Estill Co. KY early marriage records in 1823. Earlier Michael and David Winkler were her guardians, named Elizabeth Lucas as found in Early Estill Co. Records. The Following are added and clarifying notations: David Winkler was quardian of Elizabeth Asbell, inadvertantly named as Elizabeth Lucas on her marriage record to Michael D. Winkler. She was under 21 years, she needed someone to sign for her. She was actually 15 years old (and according to the confused Lucas info, she also had 3 children at that time). Truth:Her oldest sister Lydia Asbell had married Wm Lucas and they had three children, Phillip, Teenie and Hiram. Elizabeth (called Betsy) was also a sister to David Winkler's wife, Sarah Asbell. This becomes slightly more clear by studying later public records: 1/from Est Co Ky deed abstracts, vol 1 by Edw Puckett: 14 Jan 1830, John Asbell, Thomas Asbell, David Winkler, and Sally his wife, Pierce Asbell, William Asbell, Tyre Asbell, Linsfield Becknell and Polly his wife and Hannah Asbell, received $940 from Abram Gum for 300 acres on Red Lick being same John Asbell purchased from Josiah and Levi Wooldridge, beginning on Green Clays upper line to Wooldridges line to Jesse Coyles line, recrossing Station Camp to the beginning. (signed also was Elizabeth Asbell under Williams name and also signed was Hannah Still and Frances Still. 2/ Bk E, pg 14.3/ 16 May 1831, David Winkler and Sarah his wife, Michael Winkler, and Elizabeth his wife, Philip Lucas, Hiram Lucas, Tenny Lucas, and Sarah Asbell, received $940 from Abraham Gum paid to the heirs of John Asbell deceased for 300 acres where Asbell lived at the time of his death.
