Individual Details

John Comstock

(20 Oct 1722 - Bef Oct 1787)

Married Margaret Vibber, 23 Mar 1737 - a questionable date as she would have been age 11 and makes little sense based on ages of their children.

John moved from Norwich CT to Wyoming, PA. He was one of the "Forty" first settlers at Kingston, PA and a roll there 2 Jun 1769. John was an Ensign in the First Alarm Company and was engaged in the Wyoming Massacre, 3 Jul 1778, when two of his sons were killed.

John's will was dated 17 Dec 1782, probated at Wilkes-Barre, 1 Oct 1787. It refers to his wife as living but does not name her. Son Peleg to be executor. Named a son Kingsley and gave a bequest to Kingsley's daughter. Also named a daughter Elizabeth and "other" daughters.

It seems odd to me that there were so many children, yet so few named in the will. The children's birthdates are spread too far apart to be possible. This is one of the families that needs a great deal more research.
