Archie M. Devaughn Died Tuesday A.M.
...An end to the physical and mortal suffering of Archie Mack Devaughn came Tuesday morning of this week at 6:40 o'clock, following an illness of some four or five months.... He was 37 years old.
Funeral services are to be held at Chestnut Creek, Coopers, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
...Surviving is the wife, Mrs. Irene Traywick Devaughn, and four small daughters - lois Irene, 8, Clara Ann, 6, Euba Joyce, 4, and Clarice Mae, six months old; father, Prof. W. M. devaughn; one brother, J. Floy Devaughn; two sisters - Misses Lena Mae and Annie Laurie Devaughn both of Sylacauga.
Archie Mae Devaughn was born in Coosa county May 26, 1903; the family moved to this county some 25 years ago. He married about 9 years ago. He had been prominently connected with the teaching, singing, and writing of sacred music for the past ten or twelve years; having taught in Chilton and adjoining counties. He has contributed several songs to the modern books of the past five or six years....
