Siluria is a community located in Shelby County, Alabama in the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area. It was the home of a large cotton mill and company-built mill village which began operations in 1896 and finally closed in 1979. The community has been annexed by the city of Alabaster. It's named for the Silurian geological period because of rocks found there.

However, FindAGrave shows his grave marker in the Lomax Independent Church Cemetery, Lomax, Chilton, AL. There is the note that the cemetery was formerly New Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He is also listed on FindAGrave as buried New Harmony Baptist Cemetery, Clanton.

J.P.TRAYWICK BURIED AT NEW SALEM LAST TUESDAY
Body Recovered From Shallow Pond at Siluria Monday; Last Seen Alive Saturday, July 31.
J. P. Traywick, age 35, was buried at New Harmony, Lomax, Tuesday morning, Martin & Sons directing.
The body of the young man was recovered from a shallow pond of water in Siluria Monday. The man was last seen alive Saturday. Bruises on the face and throat indicate probably foul play. the body was brought here by Martin on Monday, shortly after being found.
It is reported that Mr. Traywick had been in Siluria only about a week, having come there from Sylacauga.
Surviving are the wife, two sons and three daughters. There are three brothers - Arthur, Whit and Enoch. There are nine sisters - Mrs. Henry Miller of Clanton, Mrs. Dewey Caton of Prattville, Mrs. P. O. Gareney, Mrs. Leonard Stackdale, Mrs. J. H. Heard, Mrs. Buck Cooper, Mrs. Bud Morris, Mrs. Sam Williams and Mrs. Sam Murphy, all of Sylacauga.
