James Walter Smith, age 65, of Clanton Rte 5, died at the home Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, following a lingering illness. Services were held at Macedonia, Beat 11, Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. H. Carroll, Lawton Wilson and Foster Bean....
The wife, Mrs. Eula Traywick survives, two daughters - Mrs. Cecil Brunner of Madison, Fla., and Mrs. Bob Halsten of Birmingham; five sons - Capt James M. Smith of Ft Benning, GA, George D. of Clanton, Kenneth B., of Madison, Fla., Sgt. Hugh D. Smith of Craig Field, Donald of Clanton; 12 grandchildren.
Native of Chilton County, he was a son of James Dudley Smith and Christian Lewis Smith. he had been married 42 years.
