Elizabeth Hudson Clay Watkins first married John Clay in 1765. After his death she married Henry Watkins in 1784. They moved to Woodford County, Kentucky and operated Watkins Tavern next to the Courthouse in Versailles. She was the mother of 16 children including the statesman, Henry Clay.
