Catharine Ann Croy

(1809 - Bef Dec 1855)

After the death of John Britton, their were lawsuits - he had sold property and had not yet provided deeds. I discovered two of these in the Vigo Circuit Court Book 7, p.669 -675. Petition dated 4 September 1854. Frederick King brought suit against Thomas B. Armstrong, one of the administrators of the estate of John Britton, Catharine Britton, the widow and administratrix, and the children: Mary J. who had married Henry Ashley, Hanson Britton, and Sylvia, age 17, Denning, age 13, John Jr., age 11, and young Catherine - the last four being minors. Harvey D. Scott was appointed guardian ad litem of the four children underage. Chambers Y. Patterson was appointed commissioner to make the deed - which he promptly did. It was recorded 7 Sep 1854. A second petition was filed by James Herron for the same purpose.
