In the name of God, Amen, I, GEORGE BRITTAIN, Senior, of the County of Oglethorpe and the State of Georgia, being in health as is common for men of my age but knowing that I am mortal and must die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Viz:

A George Brittain did serve in the Revolution, perhaps more than one man of this name did so. The service has been attached to him on Ancestry but it's doubtful it is correct. I did find a post to Brittain-L mail list concerning George Brittain's family, dated 2 Sep 2001.

From p.324, Brittains of America by Virginia Thompson "Tommie" Brittain.
On 6th Jan. 1927, Dr. Marion Luther Brittain filled out his "Biographical" information as
follows:
Father's Line
1. HENRY BRITTAIN - Revolutionary Soldier, See State Colonial Records for services in the Rev. with Elijah Clarke from Virginia, 1788
2. GEORGE BRITTAIN - Emigrated from Virginia to Georgia at the close of the Revolution and
settled in Oglethorpe Co., Ga.
3. HENRY BRITTAIN - Oglethorpe Co., GA. was Court Clerk there for 33 years.
4. JABEZ MERCER BRITTAIN - Minister. Father of Dr. Martin Luther Brittain.
5. Martin Luther Brittain - Educator
Apparently the author, Ms. Brittain continued:
From his record, I find our HENRY BRITTAIN did serve in the Revolution under Gen.. Elijah Clark, and his commission was dated around 1784, according to the "Roster of the Revolution." See page 34:
*BRITTAIN, HENRY. Sergeant. Certificate of Col. E. Clark, that he was a sergeant in the Batt. of Minute Men, though not an inhabitant of this State at the time of enlistment. Prays for bounty.

The book referenced is in digital format at archive.org. The quote is in a section "Certificates of Service in the American Revolution: On file in the Office of Secretary of State in the State Capitol. The full title of the book is Georgia's Roster of the Revolution, containing a list of the states defenders; officers and men; soldiers and sailors; partisans and regulars; whether enlisted from Georgia or settled in Georgia after the close of hostilities, " compiled by Lucian Lamar Knight, State Historian and Director of the Department of Archives and History, 1920.
Henry is the only man of this surname listed in the book.
