Individual Details

Thomas and family moved to the area that became Marion County about 1820. They came from Bourbon Co, KY. Family records indicate they had 15 children living at her death in 1865, but I have found only 13 and at least two of them had died before their father in 1833.

Thomas Lear and Zachariah Lear make oath that Thomas Lear died without a will as far as they know and believe leaving heirs, to wit: Polly Lear as his widow; William B. Lear, John Lear, James Lear, Zachariah Lear, Thomas Lear, Jesse M. Lear, Oliver H. P. Lear, Nancy Settles wife of Henry Settles, Susan Turner wife of Charles L. Turner, the heirs of Fanny Thrasher, dec'd, and Lavina Lear, his children, and they will make and truly administer to all and Singular the goods and chattel land and terminate rights and credits of the deceased and pay his debts as far as the assests which may come to their hand will extend and the law directs and that they will make a true and perfect inventory of all the goods and chattel rights and credits of the deceased and account for and pay over according to law all assets which shall come to their hands possession or knowledge.

Thomas and wife Mary "Polly" are buried in the "Old Turner Cemetery" Marion County, MO., located on the South side of Route MM, in the West half of the SE Quarter of Section 28, Twp. 57N, R. 5. W., on property now owned by Kaser-Gallaway. A large number of bricks adjacent to the cemetery site indicate that there was once a church or dwelling right by the cemetery.
