He was a Utah Pioneer, arriving in the Salt Lake Valley with his parents 25 September 1847 in the Abraham O. Smoot - Samuel Russell Company. He was twenty years old. His father Shadrack Roundy was one of the handful of men who had entered the Salt Lake Valley 22 July 1847 (two days before the rest of Brigham Young's vanguard company) and planted the first crops. Shadrack then returned to meet his family, including son Jared C., who were traveling across the plains.

Jared Curtis Roundy was Bishop in Wanship, Summit County, Utah.

THE DEAD - Peaceful be their rest.
ROUNDY. - At St. David, Arizona, Tuesday May 21, 1895, Jared Curtis Roundy, in the 69th year of his age, after a lingering illness.

Here's what his death certificate says about the cause of death: "He was freighting. In coupling up his loaded wagon he hit his head against a bolt under the wagon bed. He thought little of it but later on it turned to cancer which terminated in his death."

He was married to Lovisa Jenne, Eliza Snyder (divorced), Elizabeth Jefford Drake, and Ellen "Nellie" White.
