Entry 146 (123) Will of Mathew (X) Calley, 16 Apr (no year but likely 1699, or earlier, based on surrounding entries. Apparently submitted at same time of his wife's will. Mathew was preparing to leave.). "bound out of this Countrye" Wife to enjoy my estate as long as she is single. Wife and 4 children: James, Eliz., John, Rebecca - to divide my estate except to John Newby, 1 pot and 1 gun "when he goes to keep house". Wife and 3 children - my three plantations, one of which is next to Jeremiah Simon, Jno. Jinning, other provisions. Executor: Wife. Wit: Hen. White, James (X) Davis.
Entry 147/123 Will of Magdalen (X) Calley 22 Dec 1699. Confirm the above to be her will except 1 feather bed, etc., which she gives to daughter Rebecca. Wit: Henry White, Jacob Overman
Entry 148/123 Calley Inventory. Appraised by Tho. Symond, Jer. Symond, James (x) Davis. Divided equally among James Newby, John Newby, Jacob Overman who married Rebecca Newby & Jno White who married Elizabeth Newby.

A later entry in the Secretary of State records is likely related to when the Will of Daniel Camrel was presented and shows that Mathew had been in the colony for some years
Entry 169, 138 Mathew Callee proved the will of Daniell Camrel.
5 Dec 1679 Mathew Callee qualified as executor. Signed by John Harvey, John Jenkins, Antho. Slocum, Robert Holden.
18 Dec 1679 Mathew (X) Callee and Thos. Gordon of Carteret Precinct of Albemarle Co. post bond of 40,000 pounds of tobacco to execute sd estate. Witnessed by Robt. Holden, Paul Latham.

Although not named in the above wills - this Benjamin Newby must have been related.

Entry 434 (p.47 from SS 944 (1732-1742) Benjamin Newby inventory. Pasqutoak Co. Taken 14 Apr 1739 by Susanna Newby and John Overman, excrs. Attested Jul Court 1740 before James Craven, CC.

FamilySearch entries indicate her father may have been a John Newby. There is a marriage from England: John Nuby to Magdalen Procter, 19 Nov 1676, Whittington, Lancashire, England. This would be the approximate time but there is no additional proof.
