5. Captain Noah Grant, of Coventry and Tolland County, Conn., first child of Noah Grant, of Windsor and Coventry, Conn., second son of Samuel Grant, of Windsor, Conn., first child of Samuel Grant, of same place, first son of Matthew Grant, of Devonshire, England, Dorchester, Mass., and Windsor, Conn., was born at the first-named place 12th July, 1718.
"Captain Noah Grant entered the United States Service as Captain in 1755, and was killed in battle on the 20th September, 1756. He was the great-grandfather of General Ulysses Simpson Grant, President."
He was married about 1743 to Susan or Susannah Delano, of Coventry, Conn, (where she died), and by her he had four children :
6. Noah Grant, born at Coventry, Conn., 4th July, 1744.
6. Peter Grant, born at Coventry, Conn., about 1746.
6. Solomon Grant, born at Coventry, Conn., about 1748. He died young.
6. Susannah Grant, born at Coventry, Conn., about 1750.

Noah Grant, Jr. m. Susanna Delano at Coventry, Conn. in 1746 (the 9th of 13 children of Capt. Jonathan Delano and Anna "Amy" Hatch of Tolland, Conn.). Capt. Noah Grant, Jr. died at/near Lake Champlain, NY in September 1756 at 38 years of age while in service during the French Indian War. He and wife Susanna had three surviving children, the eldest being Noah Grant the 3rd, who was only eight years old when his own father died. Susanna (Delano) Grant never remarried and d. at Coventry in 1806 at 84 years of age. Where the surviving children of Capt. Noah Grant, Jr. were raised (Noah, Susanna and Peter) probably will never be known, but they likely were raised either at Tolland with the extended Delano family or at Coventry with the extended Buell family.
