On 15 Dec 1804, a marriage bond was issued for Robert Banks and Susannah Jarvis in Norfolk, VA. Marriage bond reproduced on p. 55 of an unpublished booklet by Reginald and Lottie Smith of San Angelo, TX. The marriage bond says Robert Banks, but the family records say Thomas Baxter Banks. [Is Susannah's marriage to Thomas a second marriage? There is a 6-year gap before the first known child of Thomas was born. The existence of two sets of Banks names has led Reginald Smith and later Mrs. Frances Storey to combine the two Banks names into Thomas Robert Baxter Banks. Such a lengthy name combination would be quite unusual for a Virginian of the late 1700s.]
