Individual Details

Abraham Hendricks

(Ca 1765 - 14 Feb 1848)

Exactly where Abraham was born is not known; he was in Rowan Co. NC early in his life and quite possibly was born there. A deed was issued to an Abraham Hendrixson on the 16th day of July 1795 in County of Rowan, Deed Book 14; p. 635, for two hundred acres.

Later we find him in Simpson Co., Ky. Drusilla (Dorris) Hendricks states: ...Abraham was too young to fight in the Revolutionary War, but three of his brothers did engage...while Abraham was left at home with his parents. Nothing more is mentioned of Abraham until James and Drusilla visited him in his declining years near Independence, Missouri.

The 1830 census of Jackson County, MO, and the will of Abraham indicate he was married a second time. The listing of the children in the will did not include a daughter previously listed as one of Abraham's children, but listed another daughter that has been assigned to the second wife, Elizabeth (Betsy). See THE HENRY HENDRICKS AND SARAH THOMPSON FAMILY, pp 46 - 48 for a detailed explanation of the assumptions made as to the assignment of the children. The birth order is also different than previously given in HENRY HENDRICKS GENEALOGY.
